Not this year, but saw it in Skye some 15 years ago. Utterly amazing and beautiful.

seen it a few times, got an absolute stunner during an excercise off the north cape in 1975. Got a little glimmer of the southern version once, but not as clear or as inspiring as the north.

Do you have to be pretty much in the very north of Scotland to be able to see it? What time of year is best to be able to see it up there??

Normally helps, but this year there were reports of seeing it a lot further south. Dunno if you'll still see, I think last night and the night before were the nights people saw it..

it has been visible up here in northumberland over the past few days following the solar flares but I cant say i have seen it the pic on the bbc site from creswell is about ten mins from me.
