Virus Protection : Fri Jul 10, 2015 10:45 am
Is there much/any difference between Norton & McAfee?

My Norton 360 is about to expire and they want £65 to renew, but McAfee I can get for £23 - presuming they do pretty much the same job?

I get McAfee free with my broadband package and it's pretty good. Haven't used Norton since the 90s.

And yet this thread and it's brother discussing the new home before ETF was confirmed are responsible for more traffic than the other threads combined? Go figure! Those posters who no longer visit this site number in the dozen or maybe dozen and a half. Those fans who don't attend games any more number in their thousands, but let's blame Jim Pooley because he's discussing something that makes us uncomfortable.
What is pathetic is the number of fans willing to cast blame on an internet poster rather than looking slightly closer to home as to why we're a mid table team in the 2nd tier looking at playing at something similar to Chiswick Poly next year.

I wouldn't bother paying any money for virus protection. If you really want separate virus protection, rather than simply using the built in protection then there's a range of free choices, for example AVG AntiVirus Free (2016), Panda Free Antivirus (2016), Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition (2014), Avast Free Antivirus 2015, and Check Point ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall 2016.

I lost count of the amount of Norton CD's I threw away at an old job, they came free with the PC's but there was no way we were going to install it.

I used to pay for F-Prot but have switched to the AVG free since years ago and it is fine for home use. I regularly also run Malwarebytes scans to remove a lot of non-virus nonsense that just gets stuffed in as you go.
