FWIW I think Dwyer will do well as interchange hooker, I just think the contrasting styles of Parcell and Mcillorum would have worked better. But as said, he'll be on miles more money.

Brian McDermott paraphrased Peter Fox.
"He'd say if we had 13 Bernard Dwyers we wouldn't lose many RL games. It's the same for us with JJB"

NRL talent scouts have been invited to watch Leeds backrower Carl Ablett with the veteran keen to try his hand in Australia.

At 32, the Rhinos workhorse is nearing the end of his career but eager to play at least one season in the NRL.

Knowing his age will count against him, Market Watch can reveal the 208 game workhorse is only chasing a minimum wage deal.

Able to play centre, backrow or lock, Ablett made his first grade debut back in 2004 and has amassed 200 points across his career.

He’s also a former English international, having worn the red and white jersey on six occasions.

Ablett and the NRL : Thu Feb 15, 2018 12:16 am
Apparently he's instructed his agent to find him an NRL deal, with clubs invited to watch him train this week and obviously see him play in the WCC.
He's also only looking for a minimum NRL wage which I believe is $80K.
Good luck to him - at that price, he's definitely worth a squad filler space for a fair few clubs. He'd have gone well in his prime, but probably a tad too slow nowadays to make a real positive impact. I could certainly see him getting regular game time at a club like the Knights or Tigers.

A current rumour doing the rounds on social media is Keinhorst + 150k has been offered to Wakey in exchange for Tom Johnstone.

That would make far more sense.

Given Briscoe and Keinhorst are both out of contract at the end of the season, I can't see any player exchange being involved.

Tom Johnstone has always been on the Rhinos radar after all he and his family are all Rhinos fans and season ticket holders too

I was told that the reason Tom chose Wakefield rather than the Rhinos for his first pro contract was purely down to him knowing who was currently in front of him in the pecking order at both clubs and which club could progress his career the quickest as he always believed in his ability and that he would always full fill his dreams of reaching the top

I know for a fact that he would jump at the chance to join the Rhinos should the opportunity arise

IMO we still have Zak's £150,000 transfer fee sat in the kitty so why not try a cheeky bid for him

One thing I do find very strange is that Galloway is still over in Australia. I know there is a few troubles over there at the moment but I’m wondering whether he’s not returning. He did target a return for April but with him not training with the club much he won’t have been involved in set plays etc.
