Widnes have signed Prop Forward Stanton Albert from PNG Hunters on a 2 year contract. Stanton is the brother of Widnes new signing Wellington Albert.

There were talks of this happening when we signed Wellington. This no doubt will make it easier for Wellington to settle in as he was due to fly over to Widnes and live with Kato Ottio before his tragic passing.

Can only go off limited highlights I've seen both but Albert brothers look to run the ball in with some real speed and conviction. Something widnes have lacked in the prop area for some time.

Looking forward to watching the Albert brothers in Super League, I think they’ll both prove to be great signings.

He could be the worst player in the world but because he’s from PNG everyone makes out he’s great when in reality everyone’s watched him 2 or 3 times.

Very possible. Whichever it may be will be interesting to see.

Surely it can only be a player from Catalans. Probably the best RL side I have ever witnessed in this season's comp.

Strange comment when nobody has made out he’s great, although he has been deemed good enough to play for his country several times.

Penrith Panthers also deemed him good enough for them to sign him, although he hasn’t yet played in the NRL, playing prop and only been 22, that’s not too surprising.

No it's not strange at all it's frankly obvious. People on the VT especially are very much like the people who cheered the kings new cloth in the fairytale.

PNG had roughly the same success in the Tournament as Ireland who they narrowly beat. I don't see the same ridiculous over hype for those players.

These players may do ok who knows but the hype surrounding them is as I say way it of proportion to ability. The only one with any real pedigree is Mead and even there it's totally OTT. The others are very much unknown quantities.

As I keep saying the players we get from the NRL are becoming less and less reliable. The odd gem usually an uknown but the rest are either past it or never really had it.

As for signing for the panthers so what they sign a lot of players. Jarrod Hickey arrived at BV having played for the Bulldogs for a number of seasons and was considered a star at one point. Worst player I have ever seen at BV and it's a fair old list!

So why you are so confident about a player who never got a game I'm not sure.

‘Looking forward to watching the Albert brothers in Super League, I think they’ll both prove to be great signings.’ It’s been the same for every PNG player who’s signed for a club and it’s quite irritating, if the Alberts, for example, where that good then they would have signed for a better side not Widnes.
