2019 Recruitment : Sat Jun 09, 2018 6:24 am  
Woolford has made it clear he wants Uate next season.

Given the fact we lost Symonds and will be losing most likely Hinchliffe, Wakeman and Mamo we should have enough room to bring in another 2/3 good signings alongside Uate. I understand people want to keep Hinchliffe but I just think as hes one of the biggest earners that we need to let him go to bring in more quality to progress.

We also need to be trying to offload Adam Walne and Colton Roche as it just hasnt worked out for them here and will free up further cap space.

A Prop and a Full Back has to be up on the priority list for me. We need to improve on the "utility" players we have in key positions starting with Rankin - whos great cover but we need better for a first choice full back.

We need to get Get Olly Russell signed up to the first team and hope Jake Wardle signs a new deal with us too.

Halfback is the number one priority for me, Brough is a liability and when he actually manages to control himself enough to stay on the pitch he plays as many good games as bad and is only going in one direction at 35. After that a prop who will run hard and straight (Sam Moa was mentioned at one point, and having watched him against us that's exactly what we need) and a quality centre because Turner is making a good fist of it in the halves.

As regards who to offload Gaskell is number one for me, many seem to disagree but he's a total waste of cap money, if he was on a lower wage the fact he's utility might be a factor, but he's one of our top earners and is not good enough to play centre, halfback or full back. Far too weak, he let another try in last night watching the highlights due to weak defence and i'm sure people will come on here telling me 'that happens' (again) but hes total gash.

Perhaps Hinchcliffe may take a reduced contract (just a thought ) I agree we need to get rid of some players and replace them but it needs doing by someone who knows what they are doing and at least has some sort of plan going forward. We have certainly signed some mediocre and injury prone players this last few years.

rankin is fine for us at full back.

id like to see some SIZE come into our forwards, so a big prop needed and second row.

we may very well have uncovered a future half back to replace brough in russell

the centre spot needs fixing too for next year, who will play inside uate... wardle would be playing now surely if they thought he was going to be that player for next year.

I’m thinking wardle has signed elsewhere as I’d expect him to be playing -or at least named in the side of he was either still deliberating (so thinking he had a chance of a regular spot) or had signed for us already.
Very disappointing from him if so.

When we signed Hinchcliffe I said it was a good move at the time.

It's not just what he does on the field.

He came from a very professional winning environment and it's what he does off the pitch as much as on the pitch that counts.

I know he takes am interest in the younger lads and he's a great role model for them in what being a professional rugby player is all about.

Hope he stops for at least another year.

Wardle has re-signed, Hinchcliffe will be offered a new deal.
The club are trying to re-negotiate Gaskell's contract as they haven't been able to offload him so i'm told.
Mamo in talks with Castleford still but has an offer from Aus too.

Why would Gaskell negotiate his current deal? Surely not adding years to it?
