It's only the same as JJB sponsoring SL and sponsoring us at the same time - money is money. I personally don't give a gnats chuff who Mecca sponsor. As long as we've got a good deal out of it, they can shove advertising boards on the moon for all I care.

That said, Super League probably got more money out of Whelan than we ever did in terms of sponsorship.

When a company becomes a main sponsor of a team it often takes out advertising at rival teams so as not to alienate their supporters from the brand.

How do I know this? Mick Hogan mentioned this is what would happen and why when he rang me to discuss the deleted sponsorship threads saga on Mike's message board.

Of course it's Mecca Bingo that's to blame that we have the worst coach/team since we went down in 80... Let's keep polishing the decks... Why don't we go on a crusade to meke the half time entertainment better while we're at it. Get a grip.
