I think Marshall is showing good signs of looking to improve, and get onto the front foot. And I now go to games looking to forward to seeing him get the ball in a bit of space, and that's a nice thing to be able to say.
I heard a lot of people saying protect Marshall pre Hull game from this new winger they’ve signed and you say it’s a blessing he was injured but in truth I’ve never heard of him and he doesn’t look particularly big when I have seen him. He may be a good player and he may be strong but he’s yet to cut much of a career at the top level and I don’t think Marshall has that many deficiencies that we need to start worrying about unknown quantities on the off chance they’ve bagged another Fonua.
Marshall has things to work on without doubt but he more then warrants a spot at the minute imo.
It's not just about the Hull winger, it's about any winger with any size. I've seen Marshall handled like a kid against some wingers. I simply feel people are overlooking his issues because he's fast and can finish tries.
Personally I'm hoping Manfredi returns and is the same winger who ripped up SL before his terrible injuries. I'd feel far better with him and Davies as our wingers. Or dare I say it... Josh Charnley.

That's surely a pipedream.
I really can't see us re-signing Charnley (who would not come cheap), or even contemplating it, when we've already got four good wingers in competition for two places.

4 good wingers? Who are these?
Burgess? Who knows, looks overweight and disinterested Marshall? can finish tries like no ones business, pace to burn but handled like a kid in D and looks suspect under a high ball when challenged. Manfredi? How do we know he's even coming back let alone coming back to the same standard. Davies? I'll give you Davies. But in all honesty he's very young and new to the position.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

I count 1.
Give over! We have four wingers who, when fit, would start every week at more or less any SL club. We would be mad to even consider signing a winger, and should really be looking at selling one.

You said we have 4 good wingers when on current form and current standing I can't agree with that. You honestly think currently all 4 would get into most SL teams? Even thou Manfredi is on a long term injury? Even though how Burgess looked last season and in the Souths game? Even considering all Marshall's defensive issues?
a clear case of Cherry and White tinted glasses here.

Charnley is still a pipedream.
I can see that it suits your argument to just dismiss Marshall, Budge and Manfredi as if they're irrelevant, but most followers of the game would not do that, and I strongly doubt the club would either, especially given that we currently seem to have only one centre at Wigan, and are soon likely to be short in the front row.
When you also consider what it would cost to prise Josh away from his easy money in RU, and remember that he hasn't played any kind of recognisably decent rugby for the last two years, it's got to be a non-starter.

I judge the players off their form and how they're performing. Currently Charnley would get in. To think we have 4 good wingers on form simply isn't true. How you could make a judgement call on Manfredi is beyond me. How you could rate Joe Burgess on current form enough to say he could get into most SL teams is also beyond me. I rate Davies, and am not blind to Marshall's issues, as I keep having to say in defence, which quite frankly is a massive part of his game.
I'm not campaigning to re-sign Charnley. Just using him to point out how outlandish your comments were on our wingers.

Well that still discounts Charnley. He's hardly been a try-scoring machine in recent years.
You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I'd suggest that my 'outlandish' position is a little more pragmatic.
I'm saying that I can't see the club making such a move simply because it will cost them a lost less money and hassle if the training staff work with the raw talent they've already got. I don't disagree that Marshall has defensive weaknesses (but Josh had them too, and God knows what he'll be like on that front after 2 years in Union!) - that can certainly be improved. Budgie is a problem; again, I don't disagree. But we know that there's a very good winger somewhere inside him. And unless Manfredi declares that he's finished, we can't just ditch him.
For all these reasons, I repeat that I think Josh Charnley, or any other wing signing for that matter, is a pipedream at present.
Getting ourselves a decent right centre and, by the looks of it, a couple of front-rowers, should be the priority at present.
