I'm guessing from the lack of comment on here that this is just a quiet day story, rather than any thing based in fact
Check the rumours thread for Wigan fans comments.
Anyway, as for article! Callum walker, self proclaimed "expert in sport" who just happens to be a Cas fan it appears. What a joke of an article, were supposed to be setting a bad example etc etc when wasn't it Cas who took him on with 90% of his misdemenours past him. They went out and bought Rangi chase (and don't even think about saying the club didn't know about his drug issues when they brought him back, I know for a fact they did).
I've no idea wether Wigan are in discussions etc. But I'm not having any sleepless nights worried about what the over protective parents of Castelford will have to do to explain to their kids (they should be teaching them about burning wigan shirts, the abuse of the Wigan academy lads, the 40k fine for homophobic chants). I'm sure they'll deal with it.

You can have him as far as I’m concerned. No moral high ground here, but he’s proven time and time again that, despite his ability, he can’t be trusted. Having someone who is always a day away from his next bout of self-destruction just isn’t worth the hassle. Assault, homophobia, class A, misconduct on England duty (and they are just the things we know about) - he’s proven incapable of going more than a few months without doing something completely idiotic. His next screw-up is almost inevitable and it’s got to the point where it’s a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’. I’d rather he screwed up elsewhere next time.

I’d love to sit here and deny all that and say people will just be peeved if he signs for Wigan because he’s a top draw player signing for a club people love to hate but ultimately you’re bob on.
I want him nowhere near the Wigan side. It isn’t just his recent issues that don’t sit right. In fact his drug use is one of his lesser misdemeanours for me. He’s a grade A plank who’s been nothing but trouble throughout his career. Would he improve the team? Yes, without question but would he improve the club? A definite no for me.

I love your moral thoughts Nicky
But you know it and I know it, that if Zak became available that Wigan would love to sign him IMO ability wise he is a far better FB than either Sam or Morgan ever were and at the time of his ban he was without a doubt the best FB in SL,I would also add that in 2015 whilst he was still at the Rhinos that he was England's best FB and I wouldn't have ever swapped him for sam Tomkins
At the end of the day Zak is no more than a serial miscreant and also one who will constantly find a way of self destructing his career,Much like Gareth Hock did
Gary Hetherington deserves a medal for getting rid of him and getting £150K for him IMO
If Wigan sign him then expect a big French Connection UK up at any time

This most ridiculous thing is that we (Cas) didn’t actually need to make the move permanent until the end of the season. We had an agreed fee, an agreed contract with Hardaker and time on our hands. Given his history of screw-ups, it would have been prudent to leave it until the end of the season to part with the £150k. If we had he would now be Leeds’ problem.

Most don’t want him and I don’t think we really need him either.
I’d also take huge issue with him being a better fullback then Tomkins ever was. At their best I’d have Sam Tomkins streets ahead. The bloke was unplayable from 2010-2013. In those four seasons alone Tomkins racked up 89 try’s and 90 assists. Compare that to Hardakers 7 seasons in superleague where he’s scored 62 try’s and assisted 56. Yes he’s a better defensive fullback but he’s not that much better that it makes up for those wild differentials in numbers.
To be fair I’ve even given Hardaker 3 extra seasons and it still doesn’t look close (we best not add Tomkins 23 try’s and 23 assists from the three ‘part’ seasons he’s played in 2009, 2016 and 2017).

No doubting hes a good player but Tomkins pre injury every time for me. The first couple of times Tomkins played against Australia his performances are somthing Zak could only dream of and Im not sure he could dream that well. Everything else I dont think your far off.
