[quote="Chris71"]Whether there’s any truth in it or not I had heard Gleesons name as the assistant.

Not sure as to whether Grix stays or goes, Cartwright won’t know many here in the UK to select as an assistant so possibly one of the reasons why Gaz is back.

He certainly seems a Coach that will work his players hard in training and let them know if they aren’t working hard enough.

Be interesting to see how the recruitment path goes now we’ve announced Cartwright.[/quote
]How could Grix ever extricate himself from the failings of the previous regime. He is doomed by association. Seems un fair on him- he’s been asked to steady the ship with broadly the same tool. bar the London game when player errors let the team down he’s done ok where TS hadn’t. It seems he had to win every game to curry favour. He would be right in feeling aggrieved if Cartwright did not want him in camp.

Just watched his interview and I thought he said all the right things. Really liked his comments about everything we do between now and our first game next year being about winning. He does sound like the sort of guy who can maybe instill that winners mindset in a group of players.

Most important thing now is putting the right team around him. Especially on the S&C side. It sounds like his number 1 priority is getting the players as fit as they can possibly be. The club need to give him whatever he needs to achieve that.

Good luck with that, we’ve signed pensioners for next year and have to jettison at least six including 3 quota players but I guess money talks IF we’ve got it.

Gleeson would be a very good addition to the coaching team but I'd doubt he'd leave Wire , Money talks I guess .

Indeed...he is already in the Pearson club of taking the p***,...'fit and hungry'...,he does know the signings he has to work with, so far, are 35, 34, 33, 32x2 and 31yr old mercenaries who are pretty far from 'hungry', except for cash, and have suffered a serious injury or three?

Cartwright was a very, very good player and has an old school ethic but appointing nearly 60yr old assistants comes with obvious risks never mind giving him Dads Army to coach. As a head coach he has a less than 45% win rate over nearly 200 games...not exactly brilliant nor would that get anywhere in the next 3 years. Cartwright himself has chased the money around and not shown much loyalty as a coach. Hull will be his 5th club in 10yrs. Many question marks.

It's all short termism for no real gain. 3 years is enough for Myler and co to empty the coffers and sail into the sunset I suppose...but then what?

Could Briers leave Brisbane a year early?, or even Paul Cooke, attack coach at Myler's old club?

I think if Briers was going to leave the Brisbane lifestyle , He'd come back as a first grade coach imo.
I'd like Cartwright to bring in a fresh pair of eyes to the set up but Aussie coaches over here rarely bring their own staff over .

Grix has a 2year contract so what ever happens either he will still be here next season working with the new coach or the club will have to pay him off
