Cryogenic recovery : Tue Jun 19, 2018 9:35 am
We use Cryochamber treatment for injuries which I believe “I’m no expert” heals muscle and tendon problems very quickly and helps the body recover quickly, I don’t know which other clubs use this type of treatment for their players, perhaps I’m mistaken but the number of problems our players are having this season, is there a possibility the body is healing too quickly, and not naturally, and are we this season paying the penalty for last years injury free run, just a theory, and wondered if Leeds and Wigan also use this method of recovery, perhaps Saints as well, as they seem to have the magic formula this year.

It is only really used when there is a short turnaround between games, to aid recovery after the game, removal of lactic acid etc. It isn't used to treat injuries. They are left to heal through more natural means

as far as I know we don't own one, we hire it on rare occasions as you say.

It also lacks scientific evidence that it works at all.

This.
there's a lot of BS spoken about cold 'therapies' or cryosauna as it's sometimes referred to, mainly by people trying to sell the product, I don't see any evidence of reducing the recovery periods over other methods such as ice baths and massage.
the icing can only really help with reducing bruising but then this can be achieved just as effectively elsewhere and at a massively reduced cost not to mention not having to travel a long distance to somewhere that has the equipment.

Personally I think it's a brilliant marketing gimmick from a selling POV, much in the same way as helmets and hi-vis clothing for cycling. Say it enough times, have people say they feel great after being in there and people actually believe it has magical properties yet evidence, or lack of evidence actually says otherwise.
just like other placebo's people really do genuinely believe it's good for them yet actually has no impact over and above other methods and 'low tech' at that, that already exist.

Anyway AP can't afford it/won't want to spend out for it, as we are out the cup early and it's going to be tough to win the GF the clubs income is going to be down a big wedge on the last two years.

Warrington had two chambers installed in their new training facility everyone else I think hires them if and when. In 2016 it seemed to work well at Easter when we beat the Dobbins in the biggest come back game and then beat the undefeated Warrington on Easter Monday at the KCOM, since them they have only used it on tight turn rounds.

  However,

"cryo-saunas (partial body cryotherapy) are essentially large tubes in which one stands upright with the head above the top of the tube(the differences in individual height are dealt with by moving an adjustable platform inside the machine). Cryo-chambers (whole body cryotherapy) are rooms in which the individual enters completely and where the air is cooled (somewhat akin to a refrigerator) to the desired temperature.

Pricing:
Cryosuana- £30,000 -£65,000
Cryochamber- £80,000 - £130,000

This is just a rough estimate of singular Machine cost and does not include liquid nitrogen or electric costs associated with running the machine)".
You did ask
