In an attempt to get this thread back on track I will ask the obvious question, although I understand if circumstances dictate I get no answer.

In light of his recent sacking by Featherstone are we going to make a play for Darrell Griffin?

Whilst i understand your frustration just tell me how and why a big name (and its props you need) would come to Doncaster to play in Championship 1 in front of 300 fans.
Griffin is not a bad shout and will end up at another Championship side.
You could always give Andy Lynch a call and tempt him out of retirement.

They will come for money like most players do.
They are nearly all mercenary with little loyalty.
If you pay them enough they would play behind closed doors.
Some get the chance for honours as a BONUS.
Toronto is a prime example of the modern mercenary player ... and coach.
What you are saying is no name would come to Doncaster.
Well getting the crowd up will not happen then.
You tell me where Doncaster are headed then?
Apart from borrowing Hull players ... which is your answer.
We get more than 300 by the way and Ben Cockayne went to York .... I have heard of him.
They get a better crowd than us currently granted.

Why would anyone come to Doncaster?
A few have in the past.

On a serious note I do question the lack of progress made (out on the field) since the Club Doncaster takeover of the Dons. The money provided by that does on first hand appear not to have been spent 'wisely'

My real hope is that given the Hull tie in and with a coach who if he is half as good at his new job as he was a player we have a chance. This season is IMO a watershed for the Dons and its Management structure.

Enough from me on this matter.

People DO use this forum.
The only people who don't are people who have nothing to say or who have drifted away from the game.

IF all on here were of the same mind, I reckon there would be even fewer posters.

People who don't like a different view from their own can argue their case or take their ball home.
There is a distinct lack of balls on here currently.

For me it's all about ambition, how long can we all go coming out and using the famous "if it wasn't for carl and the owners we wouldn't have a dons to watch" statement? to be brutally honestly if the only plan was to save the club and not try to see it to that next level what's the point in that? I personally don't know any of the posters on here in person but it seems some on here are happy to spend their money, watch average rugby and then go and grumble to the wife and then do it all again next sunday! What's wrong with a little bit of ambition? what's wrong challenging the hierarchy to kick on and not be stagnant? some on here will have the view us negative posters hold the club back but I think it's the other way round.

What?
The club are holding the negative posters back?
lol

I think the point is from the more positive camp is that there is only so many ways that the neg-heads can voice the SAME view and that that limit has been reached.
And that applies to me as well.

So perhaps better to let it lie for a while.

Just a thought and this is not sarcasm, considering the thread title and the debate which has ensued, would anyone like to propose some questions whichever camp (pro / neg) they are in?

Surely, from all this debate, there must be something which could be put forward to be asked?

The wrist-slashers don't feel they'll get proper answers so won't ask any questions, the happy clappers are just waiting for the season to start so we can get on with enjoying some rugby again.

Here's a philosophical observation ...
Optimists can only ever break even or be disappointed.
Pessimists can only ever break even or be pleasantly surprised.
Utter cobblers of course ... but it could impress a few.
