Another poor result, players swapped in and out at the bequest of our Humberside overlords, I was quite surprised not to see Horne on the BBC coverage of Hull vs Saints. I don't mind us signing players from Hull, Leeds, Cas anywhere in fact but they need to be OUR players, not the ones Hull need getting fit. They need to train with our lads all the time and be fully integrated into the Dons, not just johnny come lately on a Thursday and get a starting spot.
We have had this "arrangement" for a number of years now and it consistently failed to improved The Dons, we've blamed the coaches (3 now Cooke, Thornton and now Horne) all have failed to deliver, Thornton seems to be doing ok at Hunslet and while he had his critics them seem a better side us on paper and on the pitch. Coaches have changed, were consistently told we have a large playing budget, we mysteriously miss out on rumoured signings. We will never escape this division as long as we don't have a settled side that is made up of players who to want to wear the blue and gold. I know a lot of fans will take this as negative but we are slowly losing our identity and becoming nothing more than Hull White Star (as my Dad has stated on these forums).
Time to reclaim our identity, time to sever this relationship with Hull that is holding us back. If that means Horne returns to his "full-time job" so be it there are other coaches out there.
We may well be worse without the lads from Hull, but at least they will be ours and we can build not just players who we all know wont be here next week/year.
I dont even blame the coach, successive coaches have failed to deliver under the Club Doncaster structure, the last one who had any success was Paul Cooke and I feel retrospectively he had the rug pulled out from him after the promotion season and wasnt given the funding he needed to make us a stable team in the Championship. Then we started down the dark road of Dual Reg and we've never been right since.
