DANNY LOCKWOOD - LEAGUE WEEKLY (18-5-09)

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.

You can't talk to a Rovers fan like that.

Thing is I think your right, they don't look at players that have all the skill, the sidesteps etc. The two you have mentioned are just big hard runners 95% of the time.

It's possible that the MoS is being judged on the basis of season long perfomances rather than one off games, which might explain the weighting towards Saints. The recent WCC match highlighted the dangers of deciding on SL's best players / teams on the basis of a one off game.

True but to make a GF you generally have to have had a decent season so in the context of MOS award it's hardly a oneoff game is it? You don't generally tend to be in it from outside the top 2.
How do you account for 2004 when we pished the League and won the GF but Fatboy Farrell was adjudged MOS? No doubt pandering to the nostalgia with him leaving for RU. In my opinion it should have been Matt Diskin by a country mile - and then some more. And I still don't know what Roby did to win it in 2007.

Diskin doesn't do himself or his team any favours by continually gobbing off.

Irrelevant - I'm talking about 2004 and the MOS award. I don't think Disko will be troubling the MOS again due to the nature of his past injuries.
I just hope the MOS winner wins it on merit which hasn't always been the case.
