Aye, seems to have coincided with Andy Last leaving the England set up, I'm sure that's nothing to do with it of course.

Tbf, it doesn't quite directly coincide - he was off the England juniors scene ahead of the games against the Aussie schoolboys.
And he was always and understandably more likely to be an advocate of players he'd helped develop, ahead of those he'd 'passed over'. I'd look slightly askance if a Rovers juniors coach combining that with a role at England level picked a load of Hull players ahead of his own charges. It'd look like you didn't rate your own judgement or performance.
Interesting to see how early Wigan and Leeds dominate squads. Their development systems are excellent, I'm sure - but obviously a lot of it is about hoovering up talent. I doubt the systems add that much value, that quickly, personally.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

The fact you know where Bell came from and can remember his rep stats suggests you're the most likely person to answer your own question.

No one else will admit to that level intense geekism.

Well done to the young lads and coaches who've guided them, nowt like that in my day.

Your youth players were not good enough. Not everything is a conspiracy FFS you all need to grow up and behave like reasonable adults.

As apparently only two of yours are now. For the various excuses why they are not good enough / conspiracies can I suggest the thread on your own board is a starting place.

Sorry mate, work has been bonkers busy lately.

Love a conspiracy theory, me. My favourite is that the works credited to Shakespeare were really written by Francis Bacon or Edward De Vere or Roger Manners or Christopher Marlowe (despite his being dead) or James Smailes. Obviously in the last version, Adam Pearson would be the subject of the sonnets.

Sadly the Lastian school of thought on Rovers years in the England academy wilderness can do no more than point to a correlation (which is of course not necessarily a causitive effect) and a simple alignment of incentives, rather than come up with something really intriguing. And we have to acknowledge that we have not produced that many players over the last few years. But...
