PROUD TO BE A ROBIN!

Chris Chester OUT : Fri Jul 24, 2015 7:43 pm
He has had a full season now, chance to mould his own squad. Injuries are not an excuse, at the time of writing we have only Campese and Allgood out.
I admit I have enjoyed the flowing rugby in some games this season but on the whole the full season has been one of massive under achievement. Whooped far too many times, the amount of players with beer bellies is shocking, the second half performances are evidence that we are far to unfit for the rigours of super league.

I honestly think if Campese didn't have the impact pre injury, and Albert Kelly didn't have the season he had, then we would have failed even more, maybe fighting it out with Wakefield for bottom spot.
We are too soft as fans and just seem to accept inept performances and usually blame the referee.

As I said, Chester has had a full off season, his own squad to form, his own ideas but this season has been nothing but a disaster, why does it feel like Chester is bulletproof?

Please give me reasons to rove me wrong on this issue

You sound like a hull fan we haven't only got campese and allgood out you forgot about weyman and bailey teams have done us up the middle we've played with one or two props for a lot of games look at our bench tonight and saints bench is give Chester at least another season and bring in a new fitness coach you also say if it wasn't for Kelly or campese we'd be in a worse position but that's why we signed them it's there job that's what there supposed to do win us games

I'll absolutely laugh my socks off at this thread if, next weekend, he becomes the first coach to take HKR to Wembley since the great Roger in 1986.

Chester will be judged on next season. Even if the worse case scenario happened and we got relegated this year, I think he'd be given a chance to redeem himself.
He is lucky being a coach of our team because we give players and coaches more chances than they would get at other clubs. That said, I do get frustrated with some of the happy clappers on here that even felt we treated Sandercock poorly.
There have been players under performing to their abilities this year and as said too many injuries and add to the fact our youth system is not producing anyone worth of note, add that all together and 9/10th is about right. Next year is the year to kick on.

Re: Chris Chester OUT : Fri Jul 24, 2015 8:08 pm
One thing is for sure our defence in contact around the ruck, line speed, and defensive shape is awful, we miss far too many tackles and this hasn't been resolved all season. I'd say this is because our pack lacks size but that's down to Chesters recruitment. The counter argument is weyman Bailey and Allgood not being involved as planned. Still not a good enough excuse for our missed tackles and points conceded.

Our away form is dreadful, also not improved all season. We're just too inconsistent, even within 80 minutes never mind week to week. When we get our defence right eg wigan away wire at home, we look a competitive side. But when we're off, were too easy to play against and that's been too often this season. I have been saying this since we came up, we are a dumb team. First couple of years you accept it but by now we should have smartened up, dumb penalties and errors kill us. With campese our game management was the best it's been for ages, without him we struggle. We can't go set for set and grind it out cos our lack gets bullied and our kicking game isn't good enough, which is why we try to play attacking rugby to paper over that and when it works it's amazing, second half v Catalan at home was just brilliant but it's not sustainable every week. Think our fitness could definitely be better as well. So many things to work on before we are anything other than a mid table team. As for Chester out I'm not going to bay for blood just yet, but we need some signings in the pack and an improvement in defence for next season. If we get to 10-15 games in next year and we have the same flaws I think we can start to call for change.

Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light

Mallinson has been stealing a wage ever since he first came to rovers. Our fitness has been amongst the worst in the league for years.
