That chant goes back as far as i can remember and one of the most uplifting ones i would say.
Back in the early to mid eighties during what was probably the most successful period in the clubs history, that particular chant rang out in unison loud and clear at every game that i can remember, especially at the away games for some reason.
It always seemed to be one of those chants that raised team and quite often the roof as well, so to speak.

If i had one criticism of some fans today it would be that there isn't enough variation in the songs and chants that they sing and some just dont bother to make any noise at all. Plus, when they do, it always seems to come mainly from one middle section of the east stand, some of the fans stood in the east stand nowadays never seem to show any passion at all except when they moan or jeer.
One thing is for sure, every fan in the ground will have to play their vociferous part on Saturday, including those in the West stand.
There will be no second chances this time.

The fact we're playing a team called the reds is probably the give away.

I tend to agree about the singing. My point is that we need to stop singing 'against' other teams and sing 'for' our team. Yes we all love Boulevard Slums, our Que Sara Sara equivalent and cruelly cannot sing Never Win At Wembley again, but they're all negative (but funny).

We need to get back to singing/Chanting Red Robin, Red Army, gimme an R, Rovers Till I Die etc etc. And for god's sake STOP singing the Erasure song. It was great last year but a complete joke this tear, as we have not seen us given ANY respect to oppositions or even the damn ball.

We need to channel that promotion final 10 years ago and remember how that felt - nervous excitement, not nervous doom. Get your mindset into thinking we're already a champ side hoping for promotion.

We have the players to win the game IF they perform for 80 mins. All we can do as loyal fans is burst our lungs FOR them, not AGAINST the opposition.

Funny one are Salford, they battered Featherstone and Batley and did a job on Hudds, all away from the AJ. They seem fearstruck at home though which is bizarre as its not as if they're in front of a vociferous crowd.

Hudds was at home. If we play like that, it will be a good close game. If we play like we did against London it could be 60.

Good luck, shame one of us has to go.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Frederick Douglas

I can't see us winning on Saturday, we've got a crap record at New Craven Park in SL also your players have a bigger incentive for 2017 than ours as if we go down most of the players will have clubs in SL next year regardless, some already have and throw in that pillock that owns us it's a recipe for disaster on Saturday.

Being at our game v London you knew then it was curtains for us, add in the atmosphere at your place and I think don't our 17 will handle it well.

Horrible afternoon in store for both sets of fans until the full time hooter goes (or HT hooter as I think will be the case when you're out of sight!)
