Salford make good ground forward courtesy of Ratchford, Gibson and Patten down the left hand side. On the next play the ball is scrappy but moved to the other flank where Danny Williams goes in for the first try of the game. Holdsworth notches the extra 2 from the touchline.

Saints get a penalty after a couple of drives from the kick off and Lomax kicks forward into the Salford half. LMS then drives the ball forward to the Salford 20. A long sweeping move wide involving Roby and Wellens sees Francis Meli stopped short. Saints then get another penalty for a high tackle and can build pressure.
