Sorry to troll on over here from the Wigan site but just wanted to say what a great turnout it was from you guys tonight. You came in your droves and sang all the way through!! Brilliant.

Can I just ask tho, you sing a song about f**k wigan rugby and the IRA and something about buying a flute for 20p! You used to sing it years and years ago when I was a kid and visited Hilton Park - can someone tell me the words? Although I'm a Wigan fan I love songs like that were the whole crowd sing them!!

I don't sing all the song, as parts i don't agree with....

but that's just my opinion

The song isn't funny,witty or clever. It is a small town anthem sung by gobbins.

In the innocence of youth I don't really get the latter part. What has the IRA got to do with anything, and why is it so offensive? I have heard much worse.

I toataly agree with Reffy and boo when it is sung.

if it must be sung ( personally i don't), how about a re wording, "the only tune i could play well, was stuff Wigan rugby and the RFL"

I assume it comes from Wigan being more predominantly catholic and Leigh Protestant. I don't even know if that's the case though tbh the vast majority of people I know from either aren't religious

Whats wrong with us Higher Folders?

The Watcher always sings the song & did so last night with the vast majority of the Leigh faithful. He believes it is a witty & clever song but mainly it is just a way of cheering your team on & showing support. You really can take life to seriously sometimes you "anti flute song" people.
