Quote jonh="jonh"I agree about Zak, in relation to his ability to suit the style of player we need.
We are missing Tomkins link play massively and that out the back play. Zak is a strike player that relies on others to make room for him. Tomkins made room for others and provided a link and that is what we desperately need THIS year.
Next year though it may be a very different scinario, hopefully a more creative half (please God Hastings) will provide more space for our strike players and having a strike fullback would be a real asset in my opinion.

I agree with your assessment, I think I've seen Zak make one strike play as he did at Cas since he came to Wigan. No disrespect to the lad, we just don't seem to have anyone who can make space to suit that style of play. But if this rumour comes to pass at the end of the season, it would make me despair about the decisions being made at the club. Anyone who ever watched Zak at Cas and Leeds could see his style of play and should have been able to see that it wouldn't work for us. So why sign him in the first place? Because he was in strife, relatively affordable and a 'big name' signing to replace the one going off to France that would appease fans - any ideas about whether he'd fit into our structure seem be an after-thought.
