The Swarm continue to grow and develop!! First Tag, then Touch, now Masters!! The Swarm are to be the focal point for a Rochdale Masters team made up of players over 35 years of age. Blokes who have played for Spotland Rangers, Milnrow, Newhey, Littleborough, Kirkholt, Balderstone, Smallbridge, Heywood, East Ward, Newbold, Littleborough and Rochdale Rugby Union, Hornets ex-players and of course the Rochdale Swarm are invited to take part in a "Masters Festival" next Sunday (9th of May) at the Castleton Sports Centre, Home of Rochdale Mayfield. The festival will include a Mayfield Side, a Swarm Masters and a couple of teams from Oldham. If you fancy a run out contact Dave Ramsbottom email swarmmasters@yahoo.co.uk We are having a bit of light practice on Thursday night at 6.30pm on Firgrove, for anyone who fancies blowing the cobwebs off in prepartion for Sunday.

how did the masters go for you lot its a bit different to tag rugby
i have been told you did ok, how was the feed back from the players ?
you were up agaist some experienced players

It went really well, i think we out performed any of our expectations!!
We played against a very good Mayfield side who had ex-pros and players who play at National Conference level. But we certainly didnt disgrace ourselves, with some solid tackling.

Our second game was against Oldham St Annes, in this game we played out of our skins.
Up against former Wigan player Richard Russell and other top flight players like Leo Casey we matched the all the way, keeping a clean sheet in defense and crossing the whitewash to score. Though all masters game finish 0-0!!

Our final game was against saddleworth, who fielded the youngest team in the comp, with nearly all their players having white shorts, we on the other hand had probably the oldest average, we even had a red shorts player, playing in black!!

We will certainly be doing it again and would recommend it to anyone.
