"Every player in our [Lost Loiners] squad could probably earn more money with their day job. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Morley on a night like this makes it all worthwhile."

Suggest that if we have big numbers of players we have a couple of 7s games and a mini tournament.

Just to clarify a couple of things rules wise Rawdon play exactly the same way as us but don't have the rule where if the dummy half gets tagged it's 5th and last. They also don't allow kicking above head height. Other than that it's much the same.

I think you might have the pleasure of my company in an officiating capacity Sam, so I'll need a quick update at some point on the ever changing rules of tag rugby.

Is there still the one about Gareth never being offside irrespective of where he stands?

It's basically the same as we've always played except:

1. Scoring side kicks off.
2. All kicks to be below head height (though if the ball bounces and then goes above head height this is ok).
3. When receiving a kick the catcher/receiver must be given space to pick the ball up (this is 5 yards on a full pitch so suggest you use your own discretion).
4. Dummy half runner can scoot and be tagged without it becoming 5th and last.

Yep that ones in along with the following:

Gareth can put the shoulder in and commit ball and all tackles on the opposition whenever he's too knackered to go for a tag.

Halftime must be long enough for Gareth to smoke a fag.

Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

You're always a pleasure to officiate Gareth, I particularly like the way you provide so much verbal assistance in decision making :D

Well played tonight lads. Sorry for being rather late (work) and not much use when I got there! I was pretty well making up the numbers and not doing very well at that

Looking forward to having a good crack at them on the return leg. See you all next week...

Well done last night lads, to lose 9-11 to a team with all those playmakers and quick runners was a great effort. If it hadn't have been for the slow start we might have had em.
