It seems that some MPs have been in two minds about whether to abstain ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21591602 I guess voting for both Yes and No at least allows MPs to be seen to have been deliberate about their abstention rather than just passive or absent.

It's the Commons equivalent of spoiling your ballot paper I suppose.

If you abstain, does it show on your voting record or does it look like you weren't actually present for the debate?
