Anyway, I was replying to your conflation of monitoring with control.
Control might require the monitoring for control to be effective ... but the monitoring on its own is limited in the control it exerts.

There was no "conflation" but they are indeed as you suggest just different chips of the same block. Anyway, as your above statement actually agrees that monitoring on its own does exert control, even if "limited", you're contradicting your own point.

Anyway, I was referring to the future, my remark was "Eventually, every aspect of your life really will be micromanaged, Orwell was right, and 1984 is well on the way" to which you responded "Give over". I genuinely wish I shared your optimism, but I have no clue on what it could be based.
