This is how you get rid of the under performers in business. No need to dress it up with HR / management interviews, consultation periods etc just tell them straight. Getting rid of the bottom 10% each year prevents complacency in the business, and drives the company forward in a very competitive world. Good on the top man for doing it himself. I worked for a US tech company that cut 10% each year albeit with a little more empathy. It’s not unusual

Exactly, its usually the bottom 10% that are working from instructions by the ones slightly higher..These are the ones who should be targeted.

I've seen EVP's.VP's, team leaders, underperforming team managers, sales guys all go. Its not just receptionists and cleaners they get rid of, its the deadwood! Cleans the business up.
