I liked the way Gingrich claims that speaking French is somehow elitist, when his own thesis was (apparently) written on education in the Belgian Congo, with references to things written in French.
So, either he didn't actually know what those references were to – or he's an hypocritical twerp.
Still, it'll doubtless appeal to imbeciles who fear education and other countries where they speak a different language.
Not that we have anyone in the UK (or on these boards, even) who celebrate being thick.
No Matter how batty our politicians may seem, we still can't hold a candle to our colonial cousins across the pond.
Republican nomination hopeful Newt Gingrich has released a TV ad, slating opponent Mitt Romney because he speaks French
Dey not insular doze 'merrcans, no sir
Smart move. The French are considered anti-American (which they are). They have a history of fascist sympathising and latterly socialism. The are burying their heads in the sand over their precious, failed Euro project and dragging the world into economic recession / depression. All in all, they represent the ultimate insult to a free American. French speaking suggests to the public Francophilia. The French nation represents all that is bad in humanity - vanity, self-obsession, self-delusion, rudeness and ultimately sychophantic cowardice.

Perhaps it's time to re-locate all of the Arcadians then? After all, simply casting Louisiana adrift would probably save $bns come the next hurricane
