Appalling statistics.

Removal of decent jobs, demonisation by politicians and media alike – and many more reasons.

And the only likelihood at present is that things are not going to get better anytime soon.

Meh, it's no-one important. Oxbridge and Eton will carry on regardless.

'when my life is over, the thing which will have given me greatest pride is that I was first to plunge into the sea, swimming freely underwater without any connection to the terrestrial world'

Yves Le Prieur, the real inventor of the aqualung

This was covered on 5 live today and they interviewed a 31 year old women who's husband had hung himself after being laid off, leaving her with young children. To add to the poor girls misery the selfish bustard hung himself in their home leaving his wife to find him. She has told the kids he's dead, but cannot tell them how he did it because of the extra trauma of them thinking he didn't want them.

Christianity: because you're so awful you made God kill himself.

Perhaps he wasn't thinking too clearly.

Science flies people to the moon. Religion flies people into buildings.

I think calling someone who hangs himself is very harsh indeed as you don't know what was going on in his head at the time. For someone to kill themselves shows the mental anguish that person is suffering and maybe a sense of failure on his part ( which it is not ) and how can he face his wife and kids and tell them he has lost his job.

I don't know if I'm odd but I've always quite admired folks who have the goonards to go out and top themselves.

Admittedly not the ideal scenario for those left behind but if you've decided you've had enough and wanna call it aday then that's your rightful perogative.

The selfishness is doing it where he KNEW his family would find him, he could have done the deed away from the family home, no matter what state of mind he was in.

You're not quite getting the bit about maybe his head being bashed in, are you?

So, no matter what state of mind he was in, he would still have the capacity for rational thought? Doesn't that sound a little ridiculous to you?

I'd probably fook the drive off to Beachey Head as well.

Maybe we should have official 'top yourself' areas?

a) Any wooded parkland. (that'd be selfish on innocent dog-walkers)
b) Railway lines (that'd be selfish on the choo-choo driver)
c) The sea (that'd be unfair on any beach-strollers, especially if the fishies and crabs had had a decent feed)

Any suggestions?

What if everybody who was gonna top theirselves, unselfishly did a bit of pre-topping research and found the building where the post-mortem was gonna be carried out?

They could just do the biz outside the gates.
Jobs a good 'un.
