When will Labour ditch Ed M? : Wed Sep 04, 2013 9:37 pm
When will Labour show some backbone, admit their mistake and move on? I fear it'll now only be after they get trounced in the next General Election which would be disastrous for the majority of Britons.

The clown must go asap.

I see that an opinion showed 2% of the electorate think he is a natural leader. I can only suppose thost few souls misunderstood the question or else they thought it referred to the talking horse off the telly.

The Labour party's poll lead shrinks by the day and with a pre-election improvement in the economy being almost inevitable surely even at this stage Labour would have nothing to lose by trying A N Other?

Much as he was/is Blair-lite, they picked the wrong brother. Dave would have had the posh Dave for breakfast.

As much as I think you're baiting for a pro-Labour/anti-Conservative response, I think you have actually raised a very valid point.

My concern is that he is successfully deconstructing the Labour party which is one of only two real election contenders. UK politics is weak enough with only two contenders let alone should it be reduced to one. I think it will result in more hung parliaments and further indecision.

He is not a natural leader and the thought of him being prime minister is laughable. I don't think Cameron is a particularly good leader but Miliband would be a joke.

The Labour party need to change now ready for the next election otherwise whether the economy has improved or not it could be embarrassing. More to the point though, we will end up with a weak opposition government.

Ok, who's hacked Dally's account?

I agree totally that Labour seem extremely unlikely to win the next election with Ed in charge. The government has shown itself to be almost totally comprised of unpleasant shithouses, and yet Ed struggles to make even the tiniest bit of political capital out of the situation. Another five years of Tory rule is too terrible to contemplate, but it seems inevitable if Labour don't make a change pretty soon.

The really surprising thing is that this set of unpleasant shithouses have found a resonance throughout the country with their politics of attrition, lies and demonising those least likely to vote for them anyway.

In 20 years time academics will present case studies to aspiring political and psychology students with the title of "How the hell did they turn 51% of the country into shithouses ?"

Dally would you be up for a friendly (or for charity) bet on the size of the Conservative majority at the next election.

How about we say 100 and I pay (or donate to a charity of your choice) £10 for every seat over that and you pay me £10 for every seat under that?

Speaking personally it does not matter who Labour have as leader because I'll never vote for them again. I just hope most of the population have a similar view and reject all the main three political parties.

Freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice.
Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality.

Re: When will Labour ditch Ed M? : Fri Sep 06, 2013 7:23 am
On the one hand, this parliamentary term is different in that it is a fixed five years, this allows Milliband to keep his powder dry and ramp it up at the right time, he doesn't have to suddenly leap into action at a previously unknown date.
As the greatest area of mistrust of Labour is the economy, they won't be making any promises until they have a fair idea what the state of the economy will be in 2015.

On the other hand, I keep seeing stuff happening, especially around the economy, on which Labour should be speaking out but don't, which is most frustrating.

How about doing on percentage of total votes cast, ie democratically?

So Ed announced after the Falkirk 'row' that there would be big changes to Labour's links to trade unions. Now a report has cleared them of any wrongdoing but this report is not being published (?). Oops - shambles.
