You couldn't make it up could you? Co-op chaired by someone who didn't think himself that hehad the experience to do the job, was appointed. Then he resigns just before the financial scandal breaks. He is then filmes allegedly buing hard drugs in Leeds. Apparently an ex-Labour councillor and Methodist minister. The country has gone mad or at least did under New Labour.

Obviously because he just rocked up one morning and appointed himself as chairman

So ex- Councillor appointed Chairman (apparently against his own better judgement) and bank donates to Labour? Bank goes bust. Bit of a scandal there?

I think they should elect more non-qualified people into posts of great importance, I've always wanted to work in an A&E department myself, the doctor on the door who says "Cubicle three" or "You're just p1ssed, go home"

I wouldn't be surprised at a co-operative donating to a party of the Left.

What are you saying anyway? ... it's kinda hard to make out just what your beef is.
So far it sounds like you think that the Labour Party forced him into a Bank Chairmanship he didn't want, so he donated its money to Labour and the bank went bust.

Off the top of my head, maybe, just maybe, he was a crap chairman or the board were crap.

Only if you are ignorant of the history and links the co-operative movement has with the Labour Party.

The Co-operative party which is the political arm of the co-operative movement has always donated to the Labour party. In fact many currently sitting Labour MP's stand as "Labour and Co-operative party" members and receive funding from the co-operative party which of course comes from the co-operative society including the bank.

The is no link between the appointment of the chairman and the funding the Labour Party gets. Even the Daily Mail isn't daft enough to suggest that.
