My late father who passed away last year suffered from Alzheimers and looking back on it, the problem kind of crept up on him as a basic kind of forgetfulness in his 50's and 60's but it went ballistic towards the end.

It was tragic to watch a clever man reduced to the frightened person he was due to this condition.

Even so a lot of credit has to go to Wigan Memory Clinic for the help they gave him (and me and my family) so I hope despite this very welcome funding they do not themselves face any cut backs.
