Sounds more to me like the Norwegians are publicising this to make it sound like they are being hard on him and stop criticism that they should have been tougher.

Whilst I agree that Breivik's list is taking the mickey (and rather bizarre), the clamour for his indefinite suffering makes me feel physically sick.



The problem is that the punishment that is imprisonment is misunderstood by many. Imprisonment is the denial of certain liberties, most obviously freedom of movement. Imprisonment is not about torture, harassment, enforced mental breakdowns or anything else the vigilante mob are screaming for.



Breivik's punishment is being served on him. Indefinite detention in a Norwegian jail is, in my view, an adequate and proportionate punishment. Let's not lose the moral high-ground by wishing on him what he inflicted on his victims. To do that makes us just as bad as him.

He wants incarcerating for the rest of his days, being the repulsive individual he is, until expiry, whereupon he can float up to the fluffy clouds to meet your maker.

or, they're publishing it because he's having a whinge. they're being as 'hard' as they can be within the laws of the country. clearly the world wouldn't implode if he fell down a huge set of stairs, but that's not how norwegians work and that's ok with me.

I think that is an appropriate and proportionate punishment. Restrict his ability to commit such an atrocity again, but don't make him suffer for the sake of it. I get the feeling a lot of people would enjoy seeing him suffer. Well I wouldn't, and anyone who would needs to seriously re-examine their own morality.

OK. You'll just have to accept that many people (sadly, in my opinion) believe in the biblical, eye for an eye, nature of justice.

It may be biblical, but it is not in keeping with God's most recent revelation. See Matthew 5:38-42. It's good to see that you share my distaste for vengeance, though.







I doubt he really is a Christian. Though it is idle to speculate, it is prudent to consider Matthew 7:15-20.

I completely agree. I can't wait 'til he dies though, then God can begin the real infinite punishment, torture and suffering, none of this poor wanna be god attempt
