But surely the effects on Lennon2 are more important than the scientific value? Why not do it with a consenting member of the public instead if it's just to see if it's possible?

Scientists trying to create life artificially? All a bit Victor Frankestein really.

As has been said before, it won't be a second coming of John Lennon, just someone who looks the same as him.

Will the clone be told he is a clone of John Lennon? How will he be brought up and by who? Will there come a time, when fed up of being the product of a bizarre experiment, the clone will kill himself?

Didn't say it was.
It was an example of why not having done something before is not, in itself, a good reason for doing it.
