There is a certain website that I frequent, where I can watch the latest game of thrones, shortly after the premiere has finished on Sky. Nothing downloaded, it operates like youtube.

Would you consider that theft?

If it is there without the consent of the makers and owners of the programme, then its theft.

I'm not sure why you would want to watch something as epic in scale as Game Of Thrones on a laptop though? - Its like listening to a great piece of music through some rubbish old mono sound system.

Erm, you need to get up to date with technology, we can now connect devices to huge flat screen TV's, watch in full HD with 5.1 sound.

Sky has chosen to limit the Sky Atlantic channel to their service meaning those who have VM or BT are blocked from paying for the content. Theft is defined as

A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it; and “thief” and “steal” shall be construed accordingly.

So Sky are the villains for depriving those who can't afford their product?..... Does this make trawling the internet for what, I presume, is an illegal stream acceptable?

I find it unacceptable that they are trying to make it so you can't watch quality TV like GOT without giving £600 a year to Rupert Murdoch. I dont mind paying for what I consume, but I won't have my pants pulled down by Sky.

If there was one parked on your drive 24/7, that you could drive for free at any time you wanted, would you just leave it there and go and buy a new one?

Sky haven't produced that content, they have paid to show it on their service and make great sums of profit.

Just buy a Jaguar and replace the badges with Aston Martin badges.

There's a huge difference between infringement of copyright and theft, but keep on insisting they are the same.

You don't have to pay £600 a year if GoT is your bag - have a look at a NOW! TV box with the entertainment package, £25 or thereabouts will get you three months access to Sky Atlantic - its a Sky product so you're still shelling out to Uncle Rupert but you haven't signed away your firstborn to get it.

...and if you're lucky (like us) then something will go wrong in your first week of access and they'll cut you off accidentally at a time when you never even realised they'd cut you off and they'll email you to say they are giving you an extra month for free by way of an apology.
