Space Weather are predicting possible auroras as far south as the UK Midlands. http://spaceweather.com/ > Current auroral oval > switch to Europe view. No doubt the good Professor and his daft Irish sidekick will bring us up to speed on BBC2 this evening.

A spectacular 'smoking gun' has been discovered which if confirmed finally clinches the theory of the Big Bang and inflation. Basically, what the researchers have found in the Cosmic Microwave Background is exactly the predicted distortions in the gravitational waves that any such inflation would have had to produce. "Four fixed cameras are positioned to capture imagery of the Earth’s surface and its limb as seen from the ISS (i.e., one camera forward pointed into the station’s velocity vector, two cameras aft (wake), and the other one camera pointing nadir)."
