I've been to Hamilton today - they were spreading sand from gritter wagons on the road to stop the tarmac melting.

A British summer could be cold and wet a lot of the time. I understand last years was. For Britain this is a heatwave, and you've got to be a contrarian to say it isn't.

A visitor from Mexico or Morocco would be wondering what the hell the fuss was about.
