The older I get, the better I was

Advice is what we seek when we already know the answer - but wish we didn't

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full-frontal lobotomy

It's called saving up for something (I realise that may be alien to many these days), even I used to take my money to school every Monday and deposit it in my Yorkshire Penny Bank account

I don't think he ever even went to Wales mate. I've said before, he only gave me three pieces of advice in his life:

1) Never trust a Welshman

2) Never shower with your clothes on

3) Never attempt to eat anything bigger than your head

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.

When you rescue a dog, you gain a heart for life.

Handle every situation like a dog. If you can't Eat it or Chew it. Pee on it and Walk Away.

This comes after this which has been announced today. Basically they will acknowledge you are too sick to work and you will be awarded ESA, then they will put you on JSA which is an acknowledgment you are fit to work, for 3 months and you will have to find a job. If after 3 months you haven't found a job they will then put you back on ESA, another acknowledgement that you are unfit for work. In a nutshell, for 9 months of the year you are too sick to work but you are perfectly fit and able to work for 3 months of the year. Absolutely crazy, its a sham and a scam and its nothing less than what I've come to expect from this government.

I also fail to see how an assessor can sign me off sick after a 15 min interview when its my GP who has personal knowledge of me and my condition and has seen me over a period of 12 years.

I would be very happy working in a supermarket, but I would like a living wage for doing so,Imo everyone is worth something. I do not need the experience of a working environment - I'm disabled not thick. Unfortunately the nature of my condition means I cannot lift anything heavy or stand for long periods therefore both stacking shelves and lifting heavy objects to scan through a till is not an option for me so how would they impliment this? If I was forced into doing this kind of work I would be putting extra strain on the NHS because I know if I did this for 37 1/2 hrs a week for 3 months I would end up back in hospital. It could put me back years. Mind you, I suppose if I was forced to work and I dropped down dead thats one less disabled citizen this nasty, evil government wouldn't have to worry about clawing back money from.

There is a chorus from an Iris Dement song that goes...

"Living in the wasteland of the free
where the poor have now become the enemy
Let's blame our troubles on the weak ones
Sounds like some kind of Hitler remedy"

Its becoming more and more relevant the more I hear of this coalition's plans to massage the unemployment figures.

Haven't you realised yet HWS? There's actually nothing wrong with any of us! All it is is that our GP had no incentive to encourage us back to work and our vast disability benefits are so generous that we just don't want to work.

The lovely Mr Cameron is going to let Atos decide on sick notes (can't wait to see how that works given their waiting times for ESA/IB/DLA medicals) and they will show people the error of their ways. Then the nice big businesses won't have to pay any sick pay because that's a wee shame for those big businesses if people are poorly (oh, and the state won't have to cough up any SSP). Then people won't be off sick for 28 weeks so won't qualify for ESA and we'll all be super healthy and know it and we'll all live happily ever after.

I'm amazed that GP's are not up in arms about it. Basically they are being accused of fraud/being stupid (as Atos basically do when they ignore their reports already) and not doing the best for their patients.

GPs - in La La Lansley's world, they're qualified to manage £80bn of the NHS budget, but not qualified to judge whether someone is sick ...

Re: State Sponsored Slavery : Sun Nov 20, 2011 10:16 am
My father has a condition which means his spine in crumbling, he also has rheumatoid arthritis in both hands especially his thumbs. He is in pain quite literally all the time. His doctor advised him to stop working for the good of his health and signed him of sick. My dad duly stopped working and got in touch with the benefits office to see what he was entitled to. A ruck load of forms later he was sent for an assesment by one of the benefits office "doctors". A few weeks later he received the assesment and was told he was fit to work. The worst part being that his own doctor received a letter from the benefits agency TELLING him he was to stop signing my dad off sick!!!
My dad still does not work and is living off his pensions because he is entitled to fook all, not even JSA or any income support because of his pensions! The benefits system in this country is nothing more than a joke. Those that have never contributed and can play the system, get everything. Those that have put in all their working life, when they need it get sweet FA! It stinks!

Up to 56,000 clinical staff to go says RCN

"The RCN's figures drew a furious response from the government last night. Simon Burns, the health minister, described them as "union scaremongering" and said the health department did not "recognise" them."

I've still yet to hear a credible explanation as to how the government can increase spending in the NHS and yet demand savings of £20 billions. Just how does that one work?

Just been on a three day drinking session and totally forgotten and missed my appointment with Remploy in the process. I’m normally a really organised person and would remember appointments but the way Remploy treated me last time by using me as a slave at ASDA they deserve some messing about with.
