Ah the classic Daily Mail trope. People aren't legally required to claim asylum in the first country they arrive in, that's fundamental to the entire international asylum system. Although countries like Italy already take in many tens of thousands more than the few who make it to our shores.
There are lots of reasons people may want to continue on to the UK or other countries and family ties are the dominant reason.
I thought we'd established that, for many it is because they are afraid of being killed.
Point 1 - looks like the dangers in some areas of the UK have been highlighted to you - seems its you who has his head in the sand.
Point 2 - The point was about find a safe haven - not a better quality of safe haven. Surely getting to the UK suggests more of economic migration rather than any safe place migration?
Point 3 - Look at Iran - people are fighting the regime for change - some will get killed/executed - but the fight continues don't see many doing a runner despite living in a brutal environment
