This is an off-topic forum.

What happened at Woolwich was, in itself, a particularly horrific crime. But it does not stand alone.

It would appear, for instance, that at least one of the accused was known to the intelligence services and had been arrested in Kenya three years ago.

In the meantime, there are suggestions that one way forward is a new version of a previously-moosted 'snooper's charter'.

In other words, this particular crime has many ramifications and potential ramifications far beyond most other murders. It should hardly be a surprise that people wish to discuss the issues that it raises.

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

Let me get this straight.

These 'terrorists' were right next to an army barracks, in a car, and the best they can come up with is a sharp blade?

Pretty carp terrorists if you ask me. I'd have thought filling the car with unleaded and driving it at the gates would have made a bigger impact.

There's been a suggestion made by a mate in the area that it's more likely to be drugs related BTW.

Other than that, it is a truly disgusting crime, but until a few more facts emerge, I'm happy to sit here laughng at the 'I'm not racist but...' brigade.

Have you changed your mind now?......

Bartholemew Smythe wrote:

In essence, no.

I'm still enjoying the ongoing battle for supremacy. The only thing in there that obviously isn't right is the drugs connection. Like I said, it was something I read, the original poster is denying he said it now and it's mysteriously vanished!

Is it my imagination, or have the press stopped referring to this as 'terrorism', and are now just referring to it as a 'murder'?

But now for my favourite conspiracy theory so far, I have to share this. I've paraphrased it a lot, but in short, here is the best conspiracy theory yet, it just misses out The Illuminati and/or New World Order.

********************************************************************

MI5 actually successfully recruited the murderer. They get him to infiltrate a mosque known to harbour a radical Islamic preacher, and pretend to become radicalised. They then set him up to murder Soldier Lee Rigby in an attempt to discredit the preacher and/or Mosques in general. In short, they set him up as a fall guy.
With it so far? You want proof?
The proof is (apparently) that despite being next to Woolwich Barracks, despite explosives being easy to make and despite having a car, it didn't occur to them to actually try to bomb the barracks as this would have been too heinious a crime. There is also the point about the amount of witnesses that, instead of running away screaming (As I would have done!) stood around calmly filming the murder on their mobile phones. Finally, there is the arrest of the friend who has blown the whistle on MI5 being arrested as no one is supposed to know about the recruitment.

***********************************************************************

Some peoples paranoia know no bounds.

Posted on here or posted in your mind?

It is usual, if wanting to correct someone, to quote the phrase or post that requires correction.

Fleet Street Fox's take on the EDL post-Woolwich

I find little to disagree with. She often exhibits a wonderful turn of phrase, such as: "what utter wastes of half-baked spunk they are"

I would say your post is very pertinent to the thread, most of the other posts have gone off at a usual Sin Bin tangent and have become embroiled in the usual religious and political arguments behind it. The sad thing is that there is a dead young man who has left a distraught wife and a small child grieving, which becomes secondary to these arguments.

I would agree.
It gives us a greater understanding of how Stephen Lawrence's family must have felt after being slashed down by young indoctrinated fascist thugs.

I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Anon.

Thank you for your detailed response, however, I am aware of how this forum works, I read it most days. My use of the word pathetic was not aimed at the serious discussion, more the childish bickering, condescending attitudes and name calling.

It's not a bad one but I prefer the one about WMD whereupon a western alliance invades a sovereign nation and kills hundreds of thousands of it's innocent citizens.

You surely couldn't make that one up and get away with it, could you?
