Again, Blair, was much like Thatcher, in that he had a vison and carried The Labour Party (well, the vast majority) with him.
He stood for what HE believed in and to get re-elected twice shows that enough of the electorate though he was doing a decent job.
Taking us into war on a sham of an excuse, quite rightly, was his undoing and just like Thatcher he made some huge errors but, he did lead his party quite effectively.

He lead his party, but nowhere near as well as Thatcher, fact remains, May is a liability (and I am a Conservative), Corbyn is no answer either.

What a lot of people fail to acknowledge is the staff in Whitehall, MOD, Local Government don't change just because someone else is sleeping in number ten and using Chequers as a holiday cottage.

We need to sack 50% of the Civil Service (and be wary of who we use to manage recruitment)

Why, because the Mail & Express say so?

No, I have never read The Mail or The Express, but I have worked with Local Government and Whitehall for quite some time, our Civil Service (and the word service is a joke) is bloated, but yet do nothing.

Try ringing HMRC, fat chance you'll get through within an hour
Try ringing your LA to get through to Council Tax, fat chance you'll get through within an hour

I really don't know why you have to be abusive, but hey ho, as is your want.

I am cheered that you think an accusation that you read the Mail/Express is abuse. A bit snowflake but I would be distraught if someone accused me of the same.
I have family & friends who work in Whitehall, Local Government, HMRC, education & health. All are hardworking & committed to their roles. Indeed more so than the nobs I have worked with in the private sector.
As I received child benefit I had to do returns to HMRC. An absolute nightmare. I would happily kill those people, together with the civil servants at BT, Virgin, Yorkshire Water, Northern Power, Engie, British Gas, Eon etc who make my life a daily misery.

do you want salt and vinegar with that massive chip on your shoulder?

BT, Virgin, Yorkshire Water, Northern Power, Engie, British Gas, Eon etc are not government departments.

Anyway, Teresa May (but probably wont)....

Oops, I think that you have spectacularly missed the point.
Local government departments, on the whole, are no less efficient than those in many large conglomerates.

Can you imagine what would happen to the country if you actually got rid of 50% of the civil service ??
And, you say that you have NEVER read the Mail and the Express. Well you really should.
Most people are appalled by some of their right wing bigoted subject matter but, I guess that you may want to make your own mind up, once you've managed to read a few editions.

No, you have missed the point, I can chose to engage with Virgin, BT etc. I can't chose not to pay for the useless people at HMRC etc.

But, anyway, Teresa May (and maybe wont)

Do try and stay on topic.

Ok, you chose to engage with the people at Virgin etc but, are they any better then the people at HMRC ?
Much as nobody wants to pay any tax, generally, they seem ok to deal with. Why do you believe that they are useless ?

Because they are, from experience, not a brain cell between them,

Oh, do tell.
Although they are extremely methodical and there isn't much common sense within their systems, they have to be "fair" and be seen to be "fair".

You sound like you may have had a hefty bill or fine ?
