Superb Mexican place, just a short walk from the docks.

So, where did you end up going Mintball?

Just spotted this.

Well, it was all a bit manic, workwise, so didn't get to Maggie May's unfortunately.

Sadfish introduced us to the Egg Café, a veggie place, which was a very nice relief after the rather unrelenting gloss and shine and trendiness of the area nearest the hotel.

We visited Bistro Franc on the Saturday we got there – were lucky to get in anywhere at all. Several places were too full. That was quite decent.

Ate at the hotel a couple of times (mixed) and the best meal of the week was at the Hanover Street Social.

The Docklands Fish and Chips on the Albert Dock became a lunchtime pilgrimage – scallops! And things ordered in "a barm" (runs away and hides).

On a non-food basis, did discover Liverpool photographer Edward Hardman and get to take a lunchtime trip around the Liverpool Tate's Chagall exhibition.

Thank you to everyone for suggestions – I'm back there again in November, so might get a little more chance to pick something from the recommendations.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

If you went to Hanover Social Club inadvertently, you stumbled across one of the best eateries in Liverpool.

All a bit posh for me. Veggie too (yuk!).

Mind you, scallops shows you have some taste!

Cheers.

Someone else had booked it for our staff meal. Very enjoyable – and very good food.

Re: Eateries in Liverpool : Sat Oct 19, 2013 8:14 am
Try the Baltic Fleet just over the road from the Albert Dock. I grew up in the city and it has been my favourite pub there since I can remember. They brew all their own ales in the basement and tunnels below and they almost always serve Lobscouse, with a crusty cob etc. I moved out to NZ about a decade ago but still manage to get back to Liverpool every couple of years and the Baltic is always my first pub to visit. It hasn't changed much really.
