And underemployment?

All those having to use foodbanks or rely on Red Cross parcels?

Is austerity working for them.

Have you got anything to contribute other than soundbites and a habit of running away whenever you're asked a direct question?

Come to think of it, have you yet answered Sheldon's remarkably simply one about what you do for a living?

Never mind his slightly more complex and philosophical one – well, for a limited intellect – of what value you place on human life?

Or will you just run away. Again.

Like a little troll with nary an idea of their own.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Something is happening - it could be just a timing thing - I am being asked about my interest in more jobs and I will not be the only one. There does seem to be more activity on the job front than there has been for several months.

I suppose you cannot see the potential flaw in your comment.
I am not being nasty or snide but it stands out like a sore thumb!

So, are there more jobs? Or just more people asking?

If the latter, what does that suggest to you?

Definitely more jobs - one company a supplier to Asda has increased turnover from 1bn to 3bn in the last 4 years and are expecting similar growth over the next three years. Another is a food manufacturer MBO linked to Booth's - both offered through connections in each firm.

Work is out there I myself am looking for someone - I am going to offer today to someone who came through this very forum. There is definitely more activity in the job market at all levels IMO. This is in the grimey north!!

And are those jobs all full-time and paying a living wage?

I think we'll make a lethal partnership after I've sorted your politics out. :D
To be serious for a moment though, I have heard little Ajwy ... makes a mean cup of tea.

Let's stick with trying to remember the watershed. Mintball

Well today Carney has confirmed we have underemployment:

UK economy well short of escape velocity, Mark Carney tells Davos

And before anyone says "It's link from the Guardian, si it is biased" his quotes are being reported in the same vein elsewhere.

He is not going to raise interest rates because:

"Crucially, unemployment remains above the level that is likely to be consistent with maintaining inflation at the target in the medium term. It is not just that nearly three quarters of a million more people are out of work than before the crisis; another three quarters of a million more people are involuntarily working part time."

The following comments are also interesting in the context of this thread:

"A few quarters of above-trend growth driven by household spending represent a good start, but they aren't sufficient", Carney said as he discussed the prospects for permanent exit from the deepest recession of the post-war era.

"It will take sustained growth, more balanced demand and a recovery in the supply side for advanced economies to break free into a more normal universe."

Seems to me these comments vindicate the position of many of us on here that the recovery is not a balanced one and that falls in the headline figure of unemployment mask the problem of underemployment.

Any of the right wing element going to disagree with Mark Carney's opinion?

He's doing one of two things...

1. He's got his head screwed on properly and sees exactly what is going on and knows a false dawn when he sees one in which case you have to have confidence in him.

2. He's buying another twelve months low interest rates for Gideon.
