Rank stupidity to you is simple intelligence and observation to most.

Keep your socialist rhetoric going, it's fun.

Labour should be miles ahead in the polls and yet, they are 4,5,6 points up.

Regardless of what his supported believe, the guy just doesn't have the universal appeal of say, Blair and his policies are a little too left wing to be universally accepted.

Yep, they should be.

Corbyn certainly doesn't have obvious charisma or smarminess or insincerity like Blair or Cameron. May completely lacks personality & ideology but it's not that that has ended her.

Out of interest, what particular Labour policies are too left wing for you? Investing in education, social services, health, policing, environment, workers' rights?

AKA spend money and don't look at efficiencies.

Labour would be the final nail in our proid countries coffin.

I'm more than happy with those ideals but, the idea of re nationalising the utilities and rail etc, when there is already so much pressure on funding etc, is just way, way too much and despite their "robin hood" taxation ideas, they have massively got their sums wrong.

The proposed increase in corporation tax, rather than generate substantial extra revenue, will force companies to change some of their working practices .

It's a really tough balance to encourage companies to be wealth generators and willing contributors to the exchequer and Corbyn ideals will, I believe, have a damaging effect on business, plus, any accountant worth their salt will find effective ways around paying higher taxation and it's naïve to believe otherwise.

What's your evidence for this? Other more successful countries manage it. We've managed it in the past. Companies have far more damaging things to worry about currently than a few pence more on tax. It isn't just companies, the basic rate of tax for middle & upper income levels is too low. I count myself in that bracket. Ask most people if they would pay more for better health, education, social services, police & they say yes.

You say that we've managed it in the past but, not without leaving a huge fiscal hole.

If you lift the rate of tax for the most wealthy, which is Labours plan, they will simply find more "efficient" ways to avoid paying.
We come back to being honest with the electorate and having a long list of spending plans, which may all be worthy "causes" and threatening to lift tax for "the most wealthy" and for "big business" all sounds great for those who are less well off.
However, with such radical spending plans, there would still be a huge gap in income vs expenditure.
Of course, there are different way of filling the gap but, thus far, we have only heard of the increase in tax for "the rich" and an increase in corporation tax, plus a purge on large companies who are avoiding paying their share.
It all sounds so simple and so painless to the masses doesn't it ?
However, as I said previously, those who are most well off will find better ways to "hide" their income and business will also change how they deal with their profits to minimise the effects of any changes.
My own business is quite small. however, our accountant is paid to help with personal and corporation tax and whilst I would never dream of avoiding paying tax, I am more than happy to adapt the business to cope with any changes to the taxation system and the larger companies are way better at this than small companies like mine and their financial managers are better than those employed by HMRC and therefore will always be two steps ahead and some of course, are even less honest.

I refuse to believe we are in harmony, where a taxation level has hit the sweet spot so companies & individuals don't avoid paying. We all know that is crap. There are a number of ways where we can start, needing transparency, international cooperation, residency status, enforcement, unifying systems. When the Tory party gets half of its income from the tax avoiding financial sector they aren't going to be too keen on action. If you are happy with the status quo, with the social systems in the country (those that we used to be so proud of, those that made the UK 'different', 'better') keep supporting it. I refuse to believe there isn't a better alternative.
