The C905 put me off SE for life. Now i have a Satio

I went looking at the HD2 today whilst in the trafford and yes it does look a fantastic bit of kit but i think i'd have to carry my rucksack everywhere as it would never fit into my pants pocket so think i may end up going for the Hero with the 2.1 upgrade. The missues wants a Palm Pre and the best offer the guy in the O2 shop would give me was £30 a month with 300mins unlimited texts/internet/WiFi but may have a word with my mate who works for O2 just to see if he could sort me a deal out

I have the google g1 contract runs out next month & going to get the htc desire looks amazing & on par with a tw@ phone!

I've had numerous Samsungs and never once had a problem with them. Always been reliable for me, and as i said, never had any problems with them. I also know that Nokia are very reliable phones, hence its a tough decision and i'm still deciding. The only phone i've ever had a problem with was the Sony Ericsson W580i, the buttons kept cracking and some buttons would eventually stop working. I took it back and they sent me a new one, only for the same to happen again. I also no a few people that phone and they were having similar problems, so i'm not a fan of Sony Ericsson, although, it may just have been that model.

I was looking at the Desire on Orange but the missus has had no end of trouble since switching to Orange from O2 at christmas. I got the HD2, but sold it unused to buy the Hero + some £££.



With Vodafone - £25 a month, unlimited texts, 500 minutes, unlimited internet.



You can get the same deal as above but for the Hero on a £20 a month tariff, I opted for the HD2 and to sell because I needed the cash.





Still no complaints about the Hero, still loving it.

Got the HTC Desire yesterday.



Initial thoughts are that it is a excellent phone.



Bit of battery guzzler though, but im sure i can turn off things that i dont need.

After reading a review of it, if you turn off the "always-on" updating of facebook, Twitter and the like, the battery life increases.



I've got a HTC Hero which is a good phone, but the Desire looks like several steps ahead.

Just downloaded locale which should help a lot by turning things on and off depending on where i am.



Can you recommend any other android apps?

HandCent is pretty good if you want to jazz up your messages. Can customize the layout to how you like it. Taskiller is good for closing down apps and I've started using Twidroid for my Twitter activities. Big improvement on the HTC Twitter app that comes with the phone.

Not specifically Android, but [url=http://layar.com/Layar[/url is an augemented reality mapping app which is pretty cool.

A friend at work has just got the Nokia X6, anyone else got one? found any problems?

Looking at two Nokia's for upgrade, the 6700 or the E71. I have had the 6300 previously and the 6700 seems like an updated version of this.



Anyone had any experiences?

I have a month before i can upgrade my phone and i'm really struggling to find one i like. Each phone i find that i like there seems to be problems with them in the reviews

Look at the E71 I have mentioned above. Looks decent to me.

I got the E71 on Saturday and so far I am very impressed.



Just one annoyance is that the video clips in the gallery do not show thumbnails of the actual video filmed, it just shows a grey box.



I cant work out why and cant find anything on line as to why.



Has anyone got one and know the answer?

Recently renewewd my contract with o2. Looked at HTC then somehow settled for a Samsung Galaxy. Piece of rubbish so sent it back and got an 8900.



Great piece of kit that beats anything I've had so far.

Just ordered a HTC Desire, due tomorrow, £10 per month, 100mins, 100 texts, unlimited internet, free landline calls and paid £134 (£30 knocked off when I asked for a bit of dizzy)for the phone. Works out at £15 a month for the length of the 24 month contract if you add in the cost of the phone. Actually works out £5 cheaper than the cheapest PAYG deal I've seen.

You will love the phone (Except for the battery life)

The battery life isn't that bad if you're willing to turn Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, etc. off when you're not using them, along with lengthening the time between checks for email and 'social networking' stuff. 2-3 days usage per charge should be achievable for moderate use, which isn't too bad for a smartphone.

I get 18 hours out of mine which is more than enough for me.



I use a program called locale which turns stuff on and off depending on where i am on the map.



Very handy.



I also get my emails checked every 5 mins during peak hours (Set for 6am to 8pm)

I can't remember and can't be faffed looking back to see if Advanced Task Killer has been mentioned as an app for Android phones. If it hasn't, get it and use it; if it has, get it and use it. Don't know how much battery life it saves, but it frees up a lot of memory by allowing you to turn off tasks which may still be running in the background.

A lot of reports say it is not needed for the Desire. Tried one for a short time, but did not find it made much difference.

It does clean up after itself pretty well, so a task manager isn't really needed. It's a 'nice to have' though, for monitoring purposes as much as anything.
