Having a bit of a play with wire wool spinning. Remarkably easy to create pretty spectacular effects. Less easy finding locations that don't cause alarm or attract unwanted attention.

It's generally regarded as the best value-for-money that Nikon offer.

You could also try setting the ISO to 800 or even 1600. The amount of noise / grain will inevitably increase but modern DSLRs can often cope quite well. Try it and see.

Set your camera in Aperture Priority, select its largest aperture (smallest number), set ISO to ISO800 (initially) and see what shutter speed the camera calculates. Also try substituting any reasonably solid surface for a tripod.

Will this AF with my body (D5000) as I've read a few forums and reviews of lenses that say most won't AF and I'd have to manual focus if I did get one...

Why wouldn't a Nikkor lens AF on a Nikon body?

I don't know. Been reading about a few and looking on ebay for some, and most sellers say they won't auto focus with some of the entry level bodies like the 3100, 5000, 5100 etc

This taken from the review that I linked to in my earlier post ...

"The Nikon AF-S 50mm f1.8G lens features a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) that allows near-silent auto-focusing on all Nikon DSLR cameras."

Went to see McFly at Leeds Academy on Wednesday night, no professional cameras allowed, but hate going to live gigs and not having a record of the event, so I decided to take along my old Minolta Dimage Z2 that I bought off ebay about 7 years ago and haven't used for quite a while. Was up on the balcony at the back, so wasn't holding out too much hope of any decent shots, but I think the Minolta did okay really, especially given the low light conditions :)

Thank you. Expected the comments, but seen them live four times now and they've put on a fantastic show every time, they play their instruments and do it very well live :D
