Is it not going to Meadowhall, which is linked to the city by tram, right on the M1 and much better to serve the population than having to get into Sheffield City Centre?

It's not going into Nottingham either, both sensible decisions given the rush hour traffic problems experienced, surely?

Ah right, just like Eurostar which goes from the centre of London to the centre of Paris or the centre of Lille or the centre of Brussels ?

It's a bit rich quoting quick journey times when you need to add extra time on the other end to wait for and then catch a tram into the town from which the other transport links radiate.

The M1 will need serious improvement, there are already almighty rush hour jams to get past Nottingham and Meadowhall (where widening might be a bit tricky, given the width of the Tinsley viaduct).

Yes, of course.
Are you saying that Sheffield isn't worthy of a station?

Explain why you believe it is, when countless other towns/cities aren't getting HS2 anywhere near them....?

Hate to say it but Sheffield are involed within 5 miles.
The East coast has been ignored totally.

Indeed, it's going as far as Leeds (well, that is the "plan" but as cod'ead says, believe it when we see it), a new line following the route of the A1 from London to Edinburgh would have a far bigger economic impact than shaving a 40 minutes off a trip people are already frequently making.

Eh?
You need me to explain that Sheffield is the ninth most populous urban area in the UK?
You need me to explain why, when the route isn't anywhere near the others, Sheffield gets a station and they don't?
You need me to explain how your question answers itself?

And which part of "Meadowhall" getting a station are you missing.

Do you live/work in/near Sheffield by any chance, and what %ge of the large population in Sheffield are actually likely to use the route, all the people on the Manor Estate maybe?

None ... which part of having to cross the city to get to Meadowhall (which a lot of population will need to do) do you not understand?

Again you are unable to present a relevant question.
Do not London, Birmingham, Leeds etc etc have "problem" estates too?
Does that disqualify those cities from investment and or railways?
Are you saying that Manor Estate is typical of the area as a whole and those kind of people won't use the new line? .... because that's what it sounds like.

Or are you simply being obtuse?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and guess the latter.

Again, you selectively answer, but hey ho, I am used to it.
