There's an idea for an out of season thread: 'What is your guilty film pleasure?'

My usual film of choice would include the works of PT Anderson or Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. But at this time of year, if 'You've Got Mail' is on TV I have to watch it.

Anything from Studio Ghibli before they were bought out by Disney. Especially anything by Hayao Miyazaki.

I love romantic comedies (well funny ones anyway) so they're rarely a guilty pleasure for me. Stuff like biopics and sports films I like but rarely are they any good, as they both tend to be formulaic and dull. Occasionally you get an interesting one every now and then e.g. La Vie En Rose, Auto Focus, but usually both are relatively conservative affairs.

For guilty pleasures, I have to mention 'Escape To Victory'...... Just the fact you get Stallone, Michael Caine, Max VonSydow, Bobby Moore, Pele and a host of football stars all together in a film, combined with one of the most hole-ridden scripts of all time, makes this film a bona fide classic....

Especially seeing as Bobby Moore and Edison Arantes do Nascimento are superior actors than Stallone and Caine.
