Somewhat more important than that... without The Skatalites the shape of reggae, and most certainly it's history, would have been completely different.

Speaking of which, this months new discovery on the reggae side of things: The Riviera Rockers on Walt Jabsco Recordings, very much like 'Signing Off' era UB40. Very, um, mellow.

Went to Live at Leeds yesterday. Only watched 2 bands. ILikeTrains and Black Moth. Both were dead good.

New Beach House album Bloom more than lives up to expectation. At least the equal of Teen Dream, time will tell if it surpasses it. Best release of 2012 (so far) for me.

Another 'must see' band for anyone with a taste in ska/punk/metal mashed up together...
