A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.

When you rescue a dog, you gain a heart for life.

Handle every situation like a dog. If you can't Eat it or Chew it. Pee on it and Walk Away.

"No amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin. " Anuerin Bevan

In your hate for religion you don't see the balanced argument and all the good things religion actually does. Creating a moral code / sense of community / helping others etc. You just see all the bad things.

I'm not religious but your hatred of everything religious just comes across as a bitter unbalanced viewpoint.

I like to think I manage to do all of those things, but I'm not religious or feel the need to be to do any of those things. Its called leading a moral life.

What the other two said plus there are a great many circustances where religions are actively harming people and at the top of that list you would have to put the Catholic Church.

Yes but that doesn't mean other people didn't use religion to base their moral values.

As I said, morality is innate. It does not come from scripture. I'm sure all religions would claim that they invented morality, but they're all wrong.

If you've been following the thread you would know that most people posting are free thinkers and don't need a book to show you how to live your life morally.

The ten commandments? only three are relevent to modern society, don't kill, don't steal and don't lie (but only in certain circumstances)

Good things can be done in anybodys name, to suggest they are solely done because of religion is ludicrous.

Society advances as science advances and science advances with the demands of society. Religion doesn't advance or contribute anything to society except outdated beliefs which has stunted societies growth.
