Well tbh it doesn't excite me as i'm not religious, but the fact that the catholic church have in the past been on the borderline of racism it would be interesting to see how things would unfold.

I was going to suggest when he announced his resignation that it may be to get out before a scandal broke. Looks like that couldbe the case?

Wonder if der exPope had been fully briefed on what his Scottish priests had been up to? The BBC has seen evidence that bishops in the Catholic Church in Scotland knew of 20 allegations of child sex abuse by priests between 1985 and 1995. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-21715473 Oddly enough, I don't recall the Vatican mentioning it.

The Roman Catholic view is not consistent with scripture, so how do they decide what is proper doctrine? By making it up (works righteousness) and arguing from authority.

The Bible doesn't mention Popes.

The Bible doesn't mention Purgatory.

The Bible doesn't allow men to forgive sins.

The Bible doesn't venerate Mary.

The Bible doesn't give authority to church leaders. It is Jesus' church.
