How dare she retire from politics and die 'irrelevant'.
By your warped logic everyone who retires and dies must be irrelevant.
Well people asked Tony Benn for his opinion after he had retired, he was looked on as an elder statesman, still giving speeches last year. People still wanted his opinion, to hear his say. The Wicked Witch became a punchline, nobody cared what she had to say as she slowly withered away. She was irrelevant, a large proportion of people thought she was already dead.
Like I said, I'd like to know how someone can have a relevant death.
Then you should ask someone who claimed someone can have a relevant death to explain it to you rather than trying to involve me in this straw man.
So, I suppose you call Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn by his birth name, despite the same self chappie announcing in 1973 that he wished to known henceforth as plain old Tony Benn? Which, to be fair, does sound a bit more Working Class, eh? There's definitly more of a hint to Council estates and your local Comprehensive, than Wedgie's traditional silver spooned route of Westminster and Oxford. I wonder why he did that?.....
And Margeret Thatcher is irrelevant? Well, given the amount of column inches, you and sundry others spend mentioning her name, you have as little knowledge to the meaning of the word, as you have to life in general.

Anthony AND Neil in his name? Wow, thats poshest name I've ever heard. Where i am from people who went by Anthony or Neil would be beaten up, the posh buggers. Everyone called Anthony would be immediately be renamed 'Tony' Neil would simply be 'Ne' thats how it is on council estates.

As always, Google is your friend.
you seem to struggle with basic comprehension as much as AJW71, perhaps lacking that ability is why you hold grew to hold similar views?

Since Tony is a standard abbreviation of Anthony, it remains accurate. And it was his first name by birth. So it would be in keeping with calling the Chancellor by his first name, as given at birth.
I actually prefer the name Gideon. It's much more exclusive than plain old George, and certainly not as common as Anthony (in any of its abbreviations)
Still, I suppose as a Politician you have to appeal to the masses.
