Interceding in world events is different to being open to a relationship freely sought by us, mankind. Few pages late, so it may have been adressed,
but, if we're going to accept levels of Interceding on a personal/local/national/world/universal event scale, then it could be argued that God interceding by sending his son to you is not overly different (in terms of scale) to God smiting a 4 year old heretic that has, by your definition, borne false witness.
